Hiking and Biking Azura Trails at Skyline Park

By Azura Credit Union

Winding through the highest elevated area of Topeka, Kansas, the Azura Trails at Skyline Park include four single-track loop trails. The trails consist of 4.7 miles of natural surface hiking and biking running through wooded and prairie areas. Many local residents may know Skyline Park as Burnett's Mound.

SkylineEdit

Azura Trails at Skyline Park is located at 3511 SW Skyline Parkway, Topeka, KS 66614. Interested hikers and bikers can access the park via a base parking lot, as well as trailheads around the 106 acre park. On key days shared by Shawnee County Parks + Recreation and Azura, visitors can even drive to the top to take in the beautiful Topeka skyline. Open gate days are shared on Azura's Events Page here.

Since 2016, Azura Trails have received many upgrades, including the addition of interpretive signs that tell the story of the local area Potawatomi, a paved parking lot, trail markers, new steps to the summit and trail upgrades like bridges and important maintenance. Azura staff are also regularly found volunteering at the park, as well as the Kansas Trails Council folks. You can find out more about volunteering at Azura trails through the Kansas Trails Council here.

The four trails include:

North Summit Trail: 1.5 miles
Sunrise Loop: 1.3 miles
Sunset Loop: .9 miles
South Summit: .6 mile
Northwest Trailhead: .4 mile

Visitors can view a fantastic map of the trails here. We encourage you to plan your visit by visiting the Shawnee County Parks + Recreation website.
