Azura Credit Union is on a mission to improve lives through a culture of giving. We do that with various programs and initiatives, including our annual scholarship opportunities. Each year, your credit union awards two scholarships: the Above and Beyond Scholarship and the Educators of Tomorrow Scholarship. This year, to better support the cost of higher education, we increased the award amounts to $3,000 each (previously $1,000). Between January 1 and April 1, we received a total of 106 applications, with 19 for the Educators of Tomorrow Scholarship and 87 for the Above and Beyond Scholarship. We are pleased to share that the Scholarship Committee has selected two applicants for these awards.
Azura's Above and Beyond Scholarship has been awarded to Abby Fleischer. Fleischer is the daughter of members Todd and Staci Fleischer of Berryton, KS and she is a graduate of Shawnee Heights High School. She is a sophomore at Kansas State University currently pursuing a double major in Hospitality Management and Business. Fleischer is pursuing a career in event planning, resort management, and ultimately, entrepreneurship.
Outside of her academic pursuits, Fleischer works part-time at a local bakery in Manhattan, KS. There, she gains practical experience and cultivates a deeper understanding of customer service and business operations.
With a record breaking number of submissions, our Scholarship Committee would like to thank all of our applicants this year. We truly enjoyed getting to know more about our community members by viewing their videos and applications.
