In celebration of International Credit Union Day on October 19, Azura Credit Union announced the addition of a ninth beneficiary in their Community Impact Card program, Helping Hands Humane Society, Inc.
The campaign to add another beneficiary began in September when Azura launched a call for nominations on their social media accounts. Based on the nominations from community and credit union members, four local organizations were selected and placed on a ballot – Family Service and Guidance Center, Great Plains SPCA, Helping Hands Human Society, and KidsTLC. Voting was open to the public October 2-6 where Helping Hands earned the majority.
Next, Azura and the Humane Society will work together to create a custom card design that will launch in early 2024. Community Impact Cards are available with all Azura checking accounts and there is no fee to replace a standard debit card with a Community Impact Card.
Helping Hands Humane Society, Inc. was originally founded in 1890 by Judge C.G. Foster for the welfare of children as well as animals. Today, HHHS advocates for animal welfare and provides sanctuary to animals in need of compassionate care and protection. In 2013, they opened their current facility located at 5720 SW 21st Street. Through the end of October, they are offering discounted adoption rates for both dogs ($0) and cats ($25).
