"A lot of what I do involves setting up employees in applications, ensuring they have the correct positions assigned to their roles so they have the access they need to get their job done," she said. "I also troubleshoot issues in the software."
In an age where digital systems and technology are the lifeblood of any organization, Alia's role in managing user access and addressing software issues is vital to Azura's daily operations.
"I find the most satisfaction when I can solve complicated problems," Alia said. "Quickly resolving issues is incredibly satisfying."
Her passion for problem-solving illustrates her dedication to maintaining the integrity and functionality of Azura's systems. With cybersecurity being a top concern, Alia shares how she contributes to protecting the credit union and its members from fraud and cyber threats.
"I encourage people to encrypt their emails and report suspicious emails," she explains. "I also emphasize the importance of changing passwords regularly. Managing strong passwords is challenging, but Hackers can easily break into weak passwords. If you want to use a dictionary word in your password, replace some letters with numbers. For example, change 'October' to '0ct0b3r'."
Alia's advice is a reminder that a simple change in password complexity can go a long way in bolstering online security.
For those considering a career in cyber security, Alia highlights the possibilities for those who pursue their passions and embrace opportunities.
"Take the chance. Even if you don't have experience, apply for the job. I applied with no experience for an entry-level job. I discovered my passion for IT, and they supported me while I pursued my degree. Now, four years and a few promotions later, I'm here. Taking that leap of faith is absolutely worth it."
