In October, Azura announced the addition of a ninth beneficiary in their Community Impact Card program, Helping Hands Humane Society, Inc. Today, they are excited to share the look of their new debit card and to begin circulating the cards into use.
The selection process was a community effort that included nominations, followed by an opportunity to vote from among the top qualifying charities.
“It is an honor for Helping Hands Humane Society to be selected for the Azura Community Impact Card program. The funds raised through the program will support the daily operations of the shelter which includes providing medical care to the animals who seek refuge at HHHS,” said Kathy Maxwell, Executive Director. “We appreciate and value the support of our community. The shelter continues to provide sanctuary to an excessive population of dogs, so financial support is very much needed at this time.”
Each time Azura members make a purchase using their Community Impact Card, the credit union donates five cents to the participating charity of choice. Established in 2010, the program began with just one unique card, a benefit for TARC. Since then, it has grown to nine card designs and beneficiaries, including: Stormont Vail & Children’s Miracle Network, Military Veterans Project, Boys and Girls Clubs of Topeka, TRM Ministries, Harvesters | Community Food Network, Supporting Kids Foundation and Shawnee Heights USD 450. In 2023 alone, the program raised $122,570; and to date, Azura has donated over $640,000 to the participating organizations.
“We love seeing our members embrace the Community Impact Card program and make suggestions on what organizations they’d like us to support. It gives them a voice in choosing how their community-owned credit union gives back,” said Katie Beach, Community Relationship Manager. “Today, there are over 8,500 members actively raising funds for their charities of choice simply by swiping their Azura debit cards. We look forward to continuing to grow this program and our partnerships.”
Community Impact Cards are an option with all Azura checking accounts and available at any full service branch. There is no fee to replace a standard debit card with a Community Impact Card.*
