Azura's December Volunteer of the Month

By Azura Credit Union

Credit Unions were founded on the principle of "People Helping People." At Azura, our associates are encouraged to live that motto through their volunteer work within the community. We truly appreciate the Above and Beyond effort our employees put in and enjoy recognizing an employee each month for their volunteer efforts! Read on to see who was chosen for Azura's December Volunteer of the Month.

Our December volunteer of the month is Mary, from our Lenexa branch. Mary has been with us many years and serves as Lenexa's Branch Manager. We caught up with Mary and asked a few questions about where and why she volunteers.

Where have you volunteered recently?

I volunteered at the Johnson County Christmas Bureau.

Why did you decide to become a volunteer?

For me, volunteering is a Win/Win proposition. Not only does it serve to help others in their time of need (a prime credit union philosophy) but it also makes me feel good inside to be able to do that. As a credit union employee, I strive to help our members each and every day and it's one of the main reasons why I love my job. Volunteering simply extends that beyond the credit union borders out into the community.

What's your favorite thing about volunteering?

My favorite thing about volunteering is to see the smiles and feel the sincere gratitude of those being helped. I think about what the JOCO Christmas Bureau donation will mean for their lives and their holiday after a long, hard year and that thought makes me happy.

If someone is deciding whether or not to volunteer - what would you tell them?

I would tell them to Go for it! All your efforts will be worthwhile and you won't regret it.

Thank you Mary for going Above and Beyond and serving our community! If you'd like more information on how you can contribute or volunteer with the Johnson County Christmas Bureau, click here.
