What if you could save money and donate to a good cause at the same time? For Azura Credit Union members, our Skip-A-Pay program during the winter holidays allows them to do just that! Skip-A-Pay is another way that our members can live the credit union motto of "People Helping People" while enjoying a little extra jingle in their pocket.
How does Skip-A-Pay work?
While the holiday season can stretch your budget, Azura provides a way to promote "People Helping People" while also helping their membership. From November through January, Azura members could opt to "skip" certain loan payments with a donation to the Ronald McDonald House. Members were able to save a little cash in their wallet, while still giving back to the community.
Who is the Ronald McDonald House?
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast Kansas provides a non-profit communal living home for families with children under age 21 receiving medical care in area hospitals. Providing temporary housing in the eight-bedroom, historic Ronald McDonald House near the city’s medical community, multiple families can enjoy a home-away-from-home for the duration of their loved one’s care at an affordable alternative to corporate housing.
This Year's Results
We are pleased to share that due to our generous members, we were able to provide a donation of $18,350 to the Ronald McDonald House, equal to 700 nights of stays for families with kiddos in the hospital!
Mindee Reece, CEO/Executive Director shared, “This donation is the largest we've received during my tenure. These funds will be used to support family stays at Topeka’s Ronald McDonald House, keeping them close to their hospitalized children. Last year, 166 families stayed a total of 1,573 nights at the House. While families are asked to make a $25/night donation for their stay, no one is ever turned away due to inability to pay. That’s why fundraisers such as this are essential!”
