International Credit Union (ICU) Day® is a celebration of the spirit of the global credit union movement. It serves as an opportunity to reflect upon the movement's history, promote its achievements, recognize hard work and share member experiences. The ultimate goal is to raise awareness about the tremendous work that credit unions and other financial cooperatives are doing around the world and give members the opportunity to get more engaged. International Credit Union (ICU) Day® has been celebrated on the third Thursday of October since 1948, meaning that 2023 is also its 75th Anniversary!
Each year on ICU Day, the Topeka Credit Union Foundation holds their annual Benefactors’ Breakfast. TCUF is a collaborative foundation made up of Azura, Envista, Ks Blue Cross Blue Shield and Mid-American Credit Unions with a mission to support organizations committed to charitable and philanthropic work. Since its inception, TCUF has contributed $399,622 to numerous local organizations.
This year, they donated $30,000 to the Capper Foundation, Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas, Child Care Aware of Eastern Kansas, Family Service & Guidance Center of Topeka, Helping Hands Humane Society, Historic Jayhawk Theater, Junior Achievement of Kansas and Topeka Habitat for Humanity.
Thank you to all of these organizations for the work they do to support our community.
